Privacy Policy

Bedrot: Bedtime Control ("Bedrot") is made by ProducerTrackr Labs ("we", "us"). This policy explains what Bedrot does with your information. The short version: almost everything stays on your iPhone. A small amount of information reaches us so that bedtime reminders and your lock screen work, so we can understand how the app is used, and, only if you choose it, so you and one friend can see each other's nights.

What stays on your device

Most of what Bedrot knows about you is stored only on your iPhone, in the app's own storage and in a shared container used by its widgets and Screen Time extensions: your bedtime schedule, wake times and wind down settings; which apps, categories and websites you chose to block; your night history, streak, freeze tokens and sleep lost; your sleep goal; and your sound, theme, color and wardrobe choices. This data is protected by your device's encryption and is removed when you delete the app, apart from the optional iCloud backup described below.

Screen Time and blocked apps

Bedrot uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Device Activity and Managed Settings) to block the apps you select at bedtime. Your selection is handled by Apple. Apps and categories are represented as tokens that Bedrot cannot read or turn into names, and that information never leaves your device. Bedrot asks for Screen Time access for your own use only. It is a self control tool, not a parental monitoring tool, and it cannot observe anyone else's device.

Bedtime reminders and your lock screen

So that your bedtime can appear on your lock screen even when Bedrot is closed, the app sends our server a small set of information: a random identifier created for this install, the push tokens Apple issues for Bedrot's notifications and lock screen updates, your bedtime and wake time for each day of the week, which nights you have switched off, your wind down length, whether blocking is on, your time zone and the app's language. During the night the app also sends Dozer's current state (for example "droopy") and your bedtime, so the lock screen can change without you opening the app. We use this only to start, update and end the bedtime display on your lock screen. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account. It is kept while you use Bedrot, and you can ask us to delete it at any time by writing to the address below.

App analytics

Bedrot uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used, for example which onboarding screens people finish, whether the subscription screen was shown, and which features are opened. Google receives these app events along with technical details such as the device model, iOS version, app version, an identifier Google creates for this install, and an approximate region derived from your connection. We use this to improve Bedrot and to measure whether our App Store and Google advertising campaigns lead to people installing and subscribing. Bedrot does not use Apple's advertising identifier, does not ask to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and does not sell your information. We never send your bedtimes, your night history, your sleep data or the names of blocked apps to Google. Google's handling of this data is described in Google's own privacy policy.

Apple Health

If you choose Connect Apple Health, Bedrot reads your sleep analysis from the Health app to show how long you slept, and whether you sleep more on nights you make bedtime. Bedrot only reads sleep; it never writes to Health and asks for nothing else. This data is used on your device only. It is never sent to our server, to Google or to anyone else, never used for advertising, and never included in backups. You can turn access off at any time in the Health app.

iCloud backup

Bedrot can back up your streak, night history, schedule and personal settings to your own iCloud account, so they survive deleting the app or moving to a new phone. The backup is stored by Apple in your iCloud, and we cannot see it. The list of blocked apps is not included, because Apple ties it to one device. You can turn the backup off, or delete it, in Bedrot's Settings.

Bedtime buddy

If you choose to pair with a friend, Bedrot stores a small amount of information on our server so your buddy can see how your nights are going: the nickname you type, your time zone, your current streak, and for each of the last 14 nights whether you made bedtime, missed it, or kept your streak with a freeze token. This is shared only with the one person you pair with, using a code you give them. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple Account, device or location, and it is not used for advertising or analytics. You can end the pairing at any time with Remove buddy, and Delete my buddy data erases all of it from our server right away. Information that has not been used for 90 days is deleted automatically. If you never use Bedtime buddy, none of this is sent.

Inviting friends

If you open Invite friends or enter a friend's code, Bedrot stores on our server a random identifier for this install, a random identifier for your phone, your invite code, which invite code you entered (if any) and when, and any App Store offer code we give you as a reward. We use this only to count invites, stop the same phone from claiming twice, and give out the free month and free year. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account, and the friends you invite cannot see anything about you. The reward codes are redeemed with Apple, who handles the subscription. To have this information deleted, write to us at the address below.

Notifications, alarms and Siri

Bedtime reminders, the morning report, nap alarms and the wake up alarm are scheduled on your device using Apple's notification and alarm frameworks. Siri and Shortcuts actions run on your device. The only notification that comes from our server is the bedtime display described above.

Photos

If you share your weekly recap and choose Save Image, iOS asks permission to add that picture to your Photos. Bedrot can only add pictures; it never reads your photo library.

Sleep sounds

The soundscapes play on your device. Nothing is streamed and no listening history is recorded.

Subscriptions and payments

Bedrot is a paid subscription. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, Apple Account or billing address. Apple tells the app only whether an active subscription exists. You can view or cancel a subscription in Bedrot's Settings, or in Settings, Apple Account, Subscriptions on your iPhone.

What we never access

Bedrot does not use your camera, microphone, contacts, calendar or precise location, and does not read your photo library. It reads no Health data other than sleep, and only if you allow it. It contains no advertising inside the app.

Where information is stored

The information that reaches our server is stored with Supabase, our hosting provider, in the United States. App analytics are processed by Google. Both act on our behalf, and neither may use the information for their own purposes.

Children

Bedrot is rated 4+. It does not ask for anyone's name, email or age, and it is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has used Bedtime buddy and want their information removed, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you the right to ask what information we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Because we do not know who you are, the quickest way is in the app: Delete my buddy data removes your buddy information, and turning off or deleting the iCloud backup removes your backup. For anything else, write to us at the address below. We do not sell or share personal information.

Changes

If Bedrot's data practices change, we will update this policy and the "last updated" date above before the change ships.
